Bhopal: In view of the increasing crime of women in the state, Transport Commissioner Mukesh Kumar has issued instructions that their driving license should be suspended with immediate effect as soon as a case is registered against the accused for committing serious crime against women.
The Transport Commissioner has issued written instructions to the Regional, Additional Regional and District Transport Officers. However, such action will be taken by the Transport Department only after the woman lodges an FIR.
After the instructions from the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety Implementation Committee, PTRI Police Headquarters, the Transport Commissioner has issued a letter to all RTOs in this regard, so as to check the crime of women.
Along with this, before issuing driving license of commercial vehicles, instructions have been given to issue the license only after getting the character verification from the responsible officer of the police department. Till now, the Police Department’s character certificate was not required to get a commercial license.
