New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan Malhotra died on Monday night. He was 94. He breathed his last in Delhi. Jagmohan, who was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, had also been a Union Minister besides being the Governor. He was twice elected the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. PM Modi condoled his death. He tweeted and wrote that the death of Jagmohan ji is a great loss for our nation. He was an exemplary administrator and a noted scholar. He always worked towards the betterment of India. Innovative policy formulation was done during his tenure. My condolences to his family and fans.
Born in 1927, Jagmohan was also an LG of Delhi. Jagmohan Malhotra, better known as Jagmohan, was tasked with beautifying the capital during the Emergency. He was also Governor of Goa, Daman and Diu for some time. Later, he was the Governor of the undivided Jammu and Kashmir State from 1984 to 1989. During that time he took strict steps against extremism spreading in Jammu and Kashmir.
