Guwahati (Agencies) A major earthquake struck Assam this morning. The tremors of the quake were felt in Assam this morning. The magnitude of the tremor of the earthquake on the Richter scale was measured at 6.4. The National Center for Seismology said that the tremors of the quake were felt in Assam at 7.50 am this morning. Assam has been shaken by this earthquake. At present, there has been no news of loss of life or property.
Three tremors felt, earthquake reaches Bengal-Meghalaya!
The epicenter of this earthquake was Sonitpur and the earthquake struck at a depth of 17 km at 7.51 am. According to the news agency PTI, there have been no reports of loss of life or property. According to officials, three earthquake tremors were felt one after another in Assam. Of which the 6.4 magnitude earthquake was the fastest. These sharp tremors were felt in Meghalaya and South Bengal along with Assam.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on the strong earthquake in Assam that there has been a big earthquake in Assam. I pray for the good of all and urge everyone to be vigilant. He said that I am taking updates from all the districts regarding this.
PM Modi also tweeted about the earthquake in Assam. He wrote in the tweet and talked to Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal about the earthquake in some parts of the state. Assured all possible help from the center. I pray for the well being of the people of Assam.
After the tremor of the tremor, pictures of the loss from Assam have started coming out. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared two photos. It shows the damage caused by the strong earthquake. In the pictures, the walls of the house are broken and are seen falling on the ground.
